Re: Jet fighters
No No No, don't go back out. Stay here and tell us about it. You can see fireworks anytime.

Re: Jet fighters
Take videos. Recently on Chris Pirillo's blog, he had a video of the Navy team (can't remember their name) practicing over his lake house near Seattle. You can probably search for it on his website. It's well worth watching. Anyway, I remember a few years ago a B1 bomber flew over a Nascar race in Atlanta when I was there. As much as I hate war and what the planes stand for, it is an awesome sight to see.

Re: Jet fighters
If you have not done so check out the Air and Space Musuem in Dayton. They have a large collection of aircraft and spacecraft. It is located on the Wright Patterson air force base.

Re: Jet fighters
They don't so much 'attend', as much as they 'attend to'. And that'll throw the numbers off everytime. I mean, talk about counting heads! Or, count the talking heads, what the hell do I care?

Re: Jet fighters
Note to trivialize sethfan's post, because it IS awesome machinery when seen up close.
But that being said, it makes me think of "tax dollars at work" = air shows or death. Nothing like a good ol' fashioned parade though...

Re: Jet fighters
The Blue Angels are Here!
August 2, 2006 at 5:52 pm · in Fun, Seattle · Comments · Related I just heard ‘em fly overhead - the Blue Angels are here for Seafair! We’ll be organizing a party for friends this weekend (and I hope we don’t leave anybody out). Since Ponzi and I live on Lake Washington, we have front row seats on our deck for the full performance. I get to watch the pilots practice for the entire week, too - filming ‘em again for posterity. I’m usually not into airplanes and airshows, but the Blue Angels are a huge exception to the rule. Here’s last year’s Blue Angels video if you don’t think they’re worth catching in person. Go Navy! Haven’t seen the Thunderbirds yet.

Re: Jet fighters
Outsourced, I enjoyed it also. That would be a great way to spend a weekend sitting on the back porch getting drunk watching those crazy planes flying all around.

Re: Jet fighters
Our local airport is about ½ mile from my place, but I rarely hear the planes coming and going unless it is a jet. You can sit in the backyard and watch the planes making their final approach before they disappear behind the hill. [The runways are atop the hill on reclaimed strip mine land]. The runway is about 4,100 feet long so most planes coming and going are small private planes or corporate jets.
I do hear the choppers heading out, though. Just now the EMS life flight helicopter flew over my house landing in the neighbors yard across the road. Everything in the places vibrated. It did the same when it left heading for a hospital away from town. That place seems to be cursed . Last month someone allegedly set the trailer afire [total loss]. They have been remodeling another one. Do not know what happened I heard nothing until the chopper flew over.
